insect trapping leaves

Modified spealized leaves of insectivorious plants that have the ability to trap and digest insects. Some leaves contract and hold the victim, some form watery graves at the bottom of a pitcher while other trap the meal in a tangle of gelatinous coated hairs.

The Pitcher plant's leaves form a pitcher with down pointing slippery hairs. Once the victim is inside it is very hard to climb or fly out.
